Donnagene Lois Drain Shrider

Donnagene Lois Drain Shrider wanted to celebrate her birthday in heaven with her loved ones. She was born January 28, 1926 and passed away January 18, 2017.

She was born to Mary and Eldon Drain of Portage, Ohio and preceded her in death along with her six brothers; Maxwell, Howard, Blythe C., Richard, Sandy and Emerson Drain; her sisters-in-law Helen (Richard) Drain, Peggie (Blythe C.) Drain, and her son-in-law, Leslie H. Taylor.

On March 11, 1947 she married her lifetime friend, Billy C. Shrider who passed away in 2006. Surviving are her children Barbara J. (Leslie) Taylor of Flushing, Michigan, Michael L. (Carla) Shrider of Tomball, Texas and Nancy Shrider of Bowling Green. Grandchildren Aleah J. (Tom) Rohweder of Bowling Green, Corey M. (Katie) Shrider of Spring, Texas, Kelsey M. Shrider of Metairie, Louisiana, great-grandchild Billy Rohweder of Bowling Green, sisters-in-law Shirley (Sandy) Drain and Tess (Emerson) Drain.

Donnagene was the owner of the Forget-Me-Not Christian Bookstore in Portage for over 30 years. Prior to owning her business, she worked at Sanitary Dry Cleaners. She was a Girl Scout leader loving all the girls who called her Mrs. S.

She was a member of the Christian Booksellers Association, lifetime member of the Portage American Legion Auxiliary and Christ United Methodist Church in Portage. She was a member of the Portage Arbor of The Gleaners Insurance Society and a member of the Hospital Guild.

Visitation will be held on Monday January 23, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 W. Main St. Portage, Ohio at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Maurice “Mo” Dunn will officiate. Interment will follow at Portage Cemetery.

Following the services at the cemetery the family would like to invite everyone back to the church for a luncheon.

Memorial Contributions may be given in her memory to Christ United Methodist Church in Portage.
