Doris ‘Ann’ Ruehl

Doris Ann (Alderman) Ruehl (1930 – 2016) age 86, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2016. She was born on February 10, 1930 in Washington, DC to Thomas A. Alderman and Lula Mae (Hill) Alderman. She married her beloved James Ruehl, Sr. on June 11, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2014.

Ann worked for the libraries at Bowling Green State University until her retirement. Ann was an avid quilter with the Loose Ladies and enjoyed performing on stage with the Black Swamp Players where she notably starred in “Arsenic and Old Lace” as well as many others. She was very active within her church, First United Methodist and was a volunteer at Wood County Hospital. Ann could frequently be seen as Mrs. Claus in the Bowling Green Holiday Parade.

Ann was a devoted mother and is survived by her children, James, Jr. (Kristine), Carol Brooks (Mark), Robert (Shelly), Jeff (Theresa), and Julie Esterline (Mike). She will also be missed by her ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas “Sonny” and Edward Alderman and granddaughter, Bethany Miller.

A Celebration of Life service will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in Bowling Green’s Historical District at 408 W. Wooster St. Visitation is one hour previous to the service. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to Bridge Hospice.
