Doris M Rahe

Doris M. Rahe, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community in Pemberville, OH. She was born on June 4, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Clarence and Anna (Bosse) Holtmeyer. Doris was baptized and confirmed at the former Salem (Swietz) Lutheran Church in Pemberville. She graduated from Troy/Luckey High School. On May 8, 1953 in Pemberville, OH she married Donald F. Rahe shortly after he returned home from military service. Donald and Doris celebrated over 50 years of marriage until his death on September 11, 2004. Her first job was with Harvey Helm in Luckey as his secretary until June of 1954 when she left to raise her children. She would later work for Bowling Green State University for over 25 years in Space Assignments. In addition she took care of the bookwork for Don Rahe Paving and Rahe Construction for over 50 years. Doris was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and the Pemberville Freedom Township American Legion Post #183 Auxiliary.

Doris is survived by her sons: Kenneth (Mary Enriquez) Rahe, Randal (Cathy) Rahe both of Pemberville, OH, daughter: Lynn (Rex) Walbolt of Perrysburg, OH, grandchildren: Derrick Leslie, Nicole (Matt) Bostdorff, Michelle (Neil) Karns, Brett Rahe, Trent (Stephanie) Rahe, Cody Rahe, Brad Walbolt, Ryan (Samantha) Walbolt and Alli Walbolt, Great Grandchildren: Logan, Grant, Chase and Carly. In addition to her husband Don, Doris was preceded in death by her infant brother and sister and later her brother Walter Holtmeyer.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 2- 4 & 6–8 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville, OH with additional visitation from 10 AM until time of services. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Musteric. Interment will be in Pemberville Cemetery, Pemberville. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal services. The family would like to thank the many friends and family members that visited and cared for Doris. They also wish to extend their special gratitude to the many helping hands of Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
