Dorothy Mae Bruning, 95, of Pemberville, Ohio died on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Mercy Health – Perrysburg Hospital.
She was born on November 15, 1928, in Perrysburg, Ohio to the late August and Viola (Moore) Wolf. Dorothy was a graduate of Perrysburg High School class of 1946. She married Ronald Bruning on November 26, 1955 at Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Ohio. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1980.
Dorothy’s working career started at the Perrysburg Kroger Store and throughout her working career she worked in some form of food related service. In her later years, she retired from Bowling Green State University after working in the Student Union for over 20 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church as well as the Auxiliary of Freedom Post # 183 both of Pemberville, Ohio. In her spare time, she could be seen taking walks on the family farm, listening to polka music while having an occasional beer but most especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children: Karen (Ronald) Risch of Oak Harbor, David (Victoria) Bruning and Gerald Bruning both of Pemberville. She has 6 grandchildren: Leslie (Seth) Cooksey, Lindsay (Greg) Griffin, Leanne (Todd) Endsley, Frederick (Logan) Risch and Alexandra and Danelle Bruning. She also has 10 great grandchildren: Adalynn, Grayson, Eloise and Ethan Endsley, Avery, Owen and Wade Griffin, Peyton, Sadie, and Harper Cooksey. Dorothy’s siblings and in-laws include: sister: Margaret Sheldrick of Perrysburg, brother: Harold Wolf of Perrysburg, brother-in-law: Robert (Joanne) Bruning of Pemberville and sister-in-law: Betty Wolf of Bowling Green. She was preceded in death by her brother: Arnold Wolf, brothers-in-law: Ronald Sheldrick and Dale Bruning, sisters-in-law: Alma Wolf, Betty Lou Bruning and Ann Bruning.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2-8 pm at the Marsh and Marsteller Funeral Home, 4094 Scotch Ridge, Pemberville, Ohio where a celebration of Dorothy’s life will be conducted Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11 am. Officiating will be Pastor Cheryl Wessell.
Dorothy will be laid to rest next to Ronald in Pemberville Union Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the cemetery committal services at Wolf’s Blooms and Berries, 8140 Scotch Ridge Road, Bowling Green, Ohio.
