Dorothy E. Cromley, 92, of Bowling Green, Ohio died Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Bridge Hospice.
She was born on February 10, 1931, in Bowling Green to the late Roy and Bernice (Ollige) Sheldrick. She married Gerald Cromley on April 8, 1950, and together they raised six children. Gerald preceded her in death on June 25, 2018. Dorothy’s siblings were Ronald Sheldrick, Lucille Phillips Meyers, Lois Heinze, Richard Sheldrick, and Thomas Sheldrick. She graduated from Washington Township High School.
Dorothy worked at the United Christian Fellowship, Wood County Prosecutor’s Office and Conneaut Elementary School. Gerald and Dorothy were members of Tontogany Calvary Church where she was involved in various committees. She led a boys 4-H club for 10 years. Dorothy also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children. She was known for her gardens and exhibited flowers and floral arrangements at the Wood County Fair starting in 1953. She was a member of the Haskins Friendly Town and Country Garden Club. She especially loved her family gatherings.
Surviving are her children, Cathleen Nelson, Beth (Bill) Weichel, Donald Cromley, Becky (Greg) Burton, Gary (Terri) Cromley. She has 12 grandchildren: Amy (Aaron) Spohn, Laura (Andrew) Nelson-Kemp, Kevin (Zuzanna) Weichel, Jim (Mariah) Weichel, Lisa (Matt) Turner, Ann (Jesse) Lambdin, Sarah (Matt) Kubacki, David (Megan) Cromley, Christy (Ty)Babb, Nichole (Cory) Swann, Mitchell (Harper) Cromley and Andrea (fiancé Alex Murphy) Cromley. She also has 19 great-grandchildren. She is survived by two special sisters-in-law, Margaret (Ronald) Sheldrick and Shirley (Thomas) Sheldrick. In addition to her husband Gerald, she was preceded in death by her son Dennis Cromley and son-in-law Douglas Nelson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday September 17, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday September 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Dunn Funeral home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 W. Wooster St. Pastor Mike Kelley and Pastor Bridgett Clark will officiate. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery, followed by a luncheon a St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
