Driver from Arizona runs out of luck when stolen license plate picked up by police cameras in BG

A man, who reportedly drove from Arizona to Ohio without a license plate, made it as far as Toledo when he figured he better steal one off a similar vehicle rather than continuing to push his luck.

His luck ran out soon after when the stolen license plate was picked up by one of the automatic plate cameras as he exited Interstate 75 in Bowling Green, driving westbound on East Wooster Street on Wednesday (June 12).

Thomas Allen, 53, was arrested for receiving stolen property as he stopped at a gas station on East Wooster. He was taken to Wood County Jail.

When asked about the stolen plate, Allen reportedly confessed immediately that he had stolen the plate at a Motel 6 in Toledo and put it on his car. He told police that his plate had been confiscated by police in Arizona during a traffic stop for expired tags – but he decided to continue driving to Ohio looking for work.
