Driver of vehicle stuck in large icy puddle cited for OVI and endangering children

A woman from Chagrin Falls was cited for OVI and endangering children early Monday (1/15) morning by Bowling Green Police Division.

Carmen Woodward, 58, was found at 3:30 a.m., in a vehicle stuck in a large icy puddle in the grassy area behind a business in the 900 block of South Main Street. Also in the vehicle was a juvenile passenger, who is the child of her friend.

When police arrived, Woodward was reportedly trying to get the vehicle unstuck by putting the car in reverse and spinning the tires.

An officer recorded Woodward’s slow and slurred speech, her glassy and bloodshot eyes, and odor of alcohol from the vehicle. She reportedly told police she had been the designated driver all night, but did have multiple glasses of wine.

Woodward did poorly on the field sobriety tests, and was transported to the police station, where she was given an opportunity to redo tests in a warmer environment. She again failed the tests.

Her blood alcohol content was registered at 0.147. She was advised her driver’s license would be suspended for 90 days.

An officer transported the minor back to his residence.
