Wood County Drug-Free Communities is reminding local residents that they can safely dispose of expired or unused medications 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
People may safely dispose of medications in the privacy of their homes by using Deterra, a drug deactivation system that is environmentally friendly and proven to neutralize drugs, rendering them useless.
Deterra is available in three different sized packages, and works on pills, liquids and patches.
To receive a package of Deterra, free of charge, people may visit the following locations during hours of operation:
- Wood County Sheriff’s Department, 1960 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green.
- Wood County Educational Service Center, 1867 N. Research Drive, Bowling Green.
- Wood County Community Health Center, 1840 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green.
For people who would rather dispose of their medications at drop-box locations, the following sites are available year-round:

- Perrysburg Police Division, 300 Walnut St.
- Perrysburg Township Police Department, 26611 Lime City Road.
