Edith E. Ringer, 104, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away November 19, 2019. Edith was born April 9, 1915 in Cairo, Ohio to the late John W. and Mollie (Foster) Sandy. She married Erwin Ringer on July 16, 1938. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1995.
Edith was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bowling Green and with her husband, co-owned and operated Spencer Hardware on South Main Street for many years. The Ringers provided housing for Women students from Bowling Green State University for several years in rooms above their store. She served for many years as a faithful volunteer at Wood County Hospital.
Surviving are nephews Larry Sandy, James Parsons, Carl Wingate, Tom Wingate and Niece Jeannette (Sandy) Wood and Niece-in Laws Ruth Sandy and Ruby Sandy along with many Great-Nieces and Nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by siblings Clyde, Nellie, Dorothy, Floyd, John, Carl, Howard and Irene, Nephews Carl J. Sandy, Joe Sandy and Niece Julia (Sandy) Luginbill.
Edith learned at an early age the necessity of hard work and independence. At age nine her Father was tragically killed in a farm equipment boiler explosion, which left her mother, herself and her siblings to manage the family farm. They worked side by side to provide for their large family. As a young adult she moved to Cleveland, Ohio to a job in a clothing factory. It was in Cleveland that she met her future husband, Erwin. They eventually purchased the hardware business and made their home in Bowling Green. She loved her home, her Church and her many friends. She will be remembered for her smile, her positive attitude, her many years of volunteer work and her independence.
The Family would like to thank all of her friends, Wheeled Meal volunteers and her Church family for their dedication in helping bring joy and comfort into her long life. May God shower His Blessing on each one of those special people.
