Escapee from Wood County Jail arrested in Michigan

Escaped Wood County Jail inmate Christopher M Eldredge is back in custody.

The Wood County Sheriff’s office reports that Eldredge, 35, was arrested at approximately 3:40 a.m. by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 1440 North Dixie Highway in Monroe, Michigan. Complete details of his arrest are not known at this time.

Eldredge, 35, reportedly escaped April 9 while being treated at Wood County Hospital. The inmate had been taken to the hospital after he complained of an illness. He reportedly fled on foot from a Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy who said he was checking a hospital restroom for contraband before the inmate used it.

The inmate reportedly stole a vehicle from a Bowling Green hair salon and fled to Toledo.

He later allegedly stole a car in Monroe.

Eldredge now faces charges in Monroe and will be extradited back to Wood County to face additional charges including for escape and stealing a vehicle.
