Findlay man charged in crash that killed unborn child and injured BG family

Eric R. Ramirez, 22, Findlay, has been charged with reckless operation in the June 7 crash on Interstate 75, south of Cygnet Road, that resulted in multiple injuries and the death of an unborn child.

The charges were filed through the Bowling Green Municipal Court, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol which investigated the crash.

Ramirez was northbound on I-75 when he lost control of his car and drove off the left side of the roadway. He then overcorrected and re-entered the roadway, driving into the path of a car driven by Maria Simon, Bowling Green. Simon’s car overturned and came to rest on its top.

Ramirez suffered minor injuries. The passenger in his car, Lori Cox, was trapped in the vehicle and extricated by mechanical means. Cox was pregnant at the time of the crash. Her unborn child died in the crash.

Maria and Marc Simon, of Bowling Green, were injured in the crash. A passenger in their car, Mary Roemer, 78, of South Bend, Indiana, was seriously injured.
