First responders recognized for helping those with mental health and addiction issues

The primary role of the Wood County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board (WCADAMHS Board) is to plan, fund, and monitor services for people with serious and persistent mental illness and alcohol and other drug addictions throughout the county.

To thank frontline workers, WCADAMHS Board wants to show their appreciation for first responders in Wood County for being frontline workers by observing the Week of Appreciation.

The Week of Appreciation is an opportunity to show support and appreciation to those who work directly with individuals struggling to overcome substance use disorders. This includes police officers, firefighters, EMTs, children’s services workers, emergency department staff, and anyone else who may experience burnout or secondary trauma because of their work with individuals with addiction.

To show their gratitude, the WCADAMHS and other volunteers will be delivering white ceramic mugs with the message “Bringing Help, Bringing Hope. Thank you!” during the week of September 20-26.
