Five rail cars derailed in Tontogany today around 4:30 p.m. Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said there were no injuries and none of the rail cars were carrying hazardous materials. A little damage was caused to Doc’s bar and restaurant in the downtown area, he said.
“It wasn’t like the last one,” Wasylyshyn said of a derailment in the village last year that caused great damage to downtown buildings and the crossing itself.
CSX officials reported to the sheriff that they hope to have trains running on the tracks by Monday morning.
