Fostoria man arrested after allegedly violating BG woman’s protection order against him

A Fostoria man was arrested Wednesday night, after he reportedly tried to push his way into the apartment of a Bowling Green woman who had a protection order against him.

Bowling Green Police arrested Jake Hoffman, 23, for violation of a protection order, menacing by stalking and burglary. He was taken to Wood County Jail.

Officers were called to the 1700 block of Shannon Drive for a woman who said Hoffman had taken off in a blue truck. She said Hoffman, reportedly with his pants unbuttoned and unzipped, tried to push his way into her home. She refused to allow him inside.

Video footage from the apartment parking lot reportedly showed Hoffman arrive at 9:18 p.m., and leave six minutes later.

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office located Hoffman at his home in rural Fostoria, and Bowling Green Police transported him to Wood County Jail.

This is not the first time Hoffman has been arrested by BGPD. On Jan. 15, he reportedly led officers on a chase reaching speeds of 120 mph, that ended with the man’s pickup truck flipping over in a field east of Bowling Green.

Hoffman had been cited earlier in the evening for criminal trespass and criminal mischief after he repeatedly showed up at the home of his ex-girlfriend in the 1700 block of Shannon Drive, after being asked to leave the property. The woman told police he had been stalking her.

Hoffman reportedly returned to the address later, and when police arrived, they saw his vehicle leaving the area and heading east on East Wooster Street. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but it picked up speed and drove through the center of the eastern roundabout over Interstate 75.

The pickup continued eastbound, leaving the city and reportedly pulling away from the lead police cruiser, which was traveling at 120 mph.

When the truck came to the tight curve on Bowling Green Road East, the officer reported seeing it go airborne. The truck had gone through the guardrail, over a ditch, and was upside down in a field.

Hoffman was taken to Wood County Hospital, then flown by air ambulance to Toledo Hospital. At the crash scene, police reportedly collected multiple open cans of beer, rolled dollar bills with a white powdery residue, and a box of ammo with a spent .38 Special casing.
