The Bowling Green Exchange Club recognized Bowling Green High School senior Etta Gallaway as its February Student of the Month. She received the honor during the Exchange Club luncheon Tuesday.
Etta is very much involved in the high school arts program and has won top honors for her art work, including first place in the Love of Art Show and she was a first place winner in the Junior Duck Stamp contest. She has also received two FOCUS Art Show juror awards.
Etta intends to major in Fine Arts at either the Art Institute of Chicago, the Maryland Institute of Art or the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She already has some exposure to the Art Institute of Chicago, having spent two weeks there this past summer enrolled in a figure drawing course. She also took a ten-week Saturday art class at BGSU last year.
At the high school she has been in the Model United Nations program and has done well academically. She has a 4.3 grade point average, which ranks her in the top 10 of her class, and she has been inducted into both the National Honors Society and Spanish Honor Society. She has been on the homecoming dance set-up crew the past three years. She has also volunteered at the Black Swamp Arts Festival and at Crim and Kenwood elementary events.
The Exchange Club meets on Tuesdays at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
