Gavarone bill signed requiring party affliations of judicial candidates on ballots

State Senators Theresa Gavarone, R-Bowling Green, and Jerry C. Cirino, R-Kirtland, today joined Governor Mike DeWine for the signing of Senate Bill 80, their legislation that will require party affiliations of judicial candidates to be listed on a general election ballot.

“Voters deserve to get the full picture of candidates running for the Ohio Supreme Court and each of Ohio’s 11 Courts of Appeals before voting,” Gavarone said. “I am proud to see Senate Bill 80 receive the governor’s signature today, giving voters more information and boosting participation down ballot.”

The new law will apply to judicial candidates for the Ohio Supreme Court and Appellate Courts.
