(Submitted by State Rep. Theresa Gavarone)
State Rep. Theresa Gavarone, R-Bowling Green, has been appointed to serve on the Ohio Cystic Fibrosis Task Force by Speaker of the Ohio House Ryan Smith, R-Bidwell.
The goal of the task force is “to study and make recommendations on issues pertaining to the care and treatment of individuals with cystic fibrosis.” The group will discuss and research 1) the use of prescription drugs and innovative therapies under the program for medically handicapped children established under the Revised Code, 2) the program for adults with cystic fibrosis administered by the department of health, and 3) the use of screenings for newborn children to search for the presence of genetic disorders.
“I am honored that Speaker Smith has asked me to serve on the Ohio Cystic Fibrosis Legislative Task Force,” Gavarone said. “Though it is a rare disease, it is incredibly difficult for families to manage, so I am looking forward to the work of the task force that will result in better care and treatment of those with cystic fibrosis.”
Gavarone joins other legislators on the task force along with appointed members of the public as well.
