Grant to help with healthcare training to serve rural populations

The Greater Ohio Workforce Board is working in partnership with Wood, Allen, Champaign, Fulton, Highland, Lawrence and Ottawa counties to use a $2.49 million grant funded by the US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration.

The purpose of the grant program is to increase the number of individuals training in healthcare occupations that directly impact patient care, and alleviate healthcare workforce shortages by creating sustainable employment and training programs in healthcare occupations (including behavioral and mental healthcare) serving rural populations.

Eligible participants (unemployed, underemployed, or incumbent workers) may receive employment and training service assistance, supportive services, and job placement assistance to advance their careers in direct patient care positions in the healthcare industry.

The grant is in effect through Jan. 31, 2025.
