Groups sought to march in Memorial Day Parade, and decorate cemeteries

Civil War re-enactors march in Oak Grove Cemetery.

(Submitted by the BG Memorial Day Observance Committee)

The Bowling Green Memorial Day Observance Committee is seeking community units to march in the Memorial Day Parade to be held at 10 a.m. on May 27.

We are seeking veteran groups, scouting groups, and other groups offering patriotic tribute to our veterans.  We can also use convertibles to transport veterans needing assistance.

The parade forms up at the BG Post Office at 9:30 a.m., and concludes with a ceremony at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Volunteers should contact David Ridenour at 419-352-5054 (e-maildjride@dacor.net).

We will also be decorating Memory Gardens Cemetery and Oak Grove Cemetery on May 18.  Flags will be placed on veterans’ graves starting with Memory Gardens at 10 a.m. and concluding with Oak Grove Cemetery at 1 p.m.  We appreciate the many volunteers that assist in honoring our veterans.
