Grover Swartzlander

Grover A. Swartzlander Sr., 81, of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday November 15, 2017.

Grover was born in Toledo, Ohio to the late David F. and Marcella (Smith) Swartzlander. He married Janet Schwartz on January 7, 1977 in Helena, Ohio and she survives in Bowling Green. Also surviving are his children: Teresa (Jim) Dezazzo; Melody (Kostas) Tsapranis of Rossford, Ohio; Mary Swartzlander of Eugene, Oregon; Grover (Lizhen) Swartzlander Jr of Tuscon, Arizona; Jason (Jennifer) Swartzlander of Bluffton, Ohio; Kathy (John) Stacey of Glenwood, Iowa; Russ (Deb) Esch of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Ray (Kathy) Esch of Santa Rosa, Calfornia; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and a brother: Herb Swartzlander of Toledo. Grover was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Grover was a member of the Christ’s Church in Bowling Green where he was active with mission week and other church activities. He was an excellent carpenter who enjoyed making bird houses and other wood working projects. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Minnesota Vikings fan. Grover enjoyed traveling around the United States especially to visit family and friends, going to flea markets and a good game of euchre.

A Celebration of Grover’s life will be held on Tuesday,  November 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Christ’s Church, 14455 Campbell Hill Rd., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. A gathering time will begin at 10:00 AM.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St, P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Grover’s honor to Christ’s Church for the new children’s addition or to St. Jude’s Hospital.
