Habitat for Humanity of Wood County will host a ground breaking ceremony for its second build in Bowling Green at the corner of Clough Street and Manville Avenue (206 Manville Ave.) on Aug. 15, at 11 a.m.
Future homeowner Amy Olea, states she is appreciative and excited to be on the journey of homeownership and always believed that owning a home would be “a firm foundation, stability for myself and my children.”
Olea, along with representatives from the organization, City of Bowling Green, Bowling Green State University, and elected officials will share remarks.
The ceremony will kick off construction for the second of three homes to be built in the city. Habitat for Humanity of Wood County and its partners dedicated the first home earlier in 2019. The third home is slated for construction in Fall 2020.
The lots for the three homes were donated by the Bowling Green Department of Public Utilities in 2017, giving Habitat for Humanity of Wood County the land resources necessary to build within city limits for the first time.
“We invite the public to join us and our partners in celebrating this pivotal event,” Executive Director Mark Ohashi said.
To date, this home is being built with the support from Wells Fargo, Wood County Hospital Staff, NSG, Bowling Green Rotary Club, Cooper Standard, Fifth Third Bank, and Farmers & Merchants State Bank.
We are also pleased to have the support of volunteer groups from BGSU, the BGSU Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter, and the Bowling Green Chapter of the Aktion Club.
Sponsorship opportunities to complete funding for the project are still available. Contact Mark Ohashi at mohashi@wchabitat.org to become a sponsor.
Habitat for Humanity of Wood County partners with people in Wood County and all over the world to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Since its inception, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County has built 42 homes.
