Bowling Green City Schools will be saying farewell to some long-time educators this summer, and saying an early welcome to the district’s new superintendent.

The Board of Education on Tuesday accepted the resignations of Jodi Anderson, the district’s curriculum coordinator, and Sarah Caserta, an English teacher at the high school.

The board also voted to hire Dr. Ted Haselman, the district’s new superintendent, as a consultant until his full-time contract begins on Aug. 1. Haselman will be paid a per diem rate of $612.65, not to exceed 20 days. Retiring Superintendent Francis Scruci will remain in his position until July 31.

“This is so he can transition into the district smoothly,” Board President Ryan Myers said.

During Tuesday’s special board meeting, Scruci talked about the departure of long-time educators in Bowling Green.

Sarah Caserta, a much-loved English teacher, is leaving to be closer to her adult children.

“She touched a lot of lives,” Scruci said. “That’s a big hole to fill at the high school.”

Catherine Wilburn, who teaches Spanish at the high school, will also be leaving the district.

“That will be another loss there,” Scruci said.

And Jodi Anderson, the secondary level curriculum coordinator, is leaving for a position in the private sector, he said.

“A lot of people are going to find out all that Jodi was doing,” Scruci said.

The board also accepted the resignations of Kelsey Hickey, a school psychologist; Christine Kempf, assistant treasurer; and Michael Canterbury, middle school custodian.

The school board also voted to hire the following employees:

  • Daniell Flick for second grade at Conneaut Elementary School.
  • Kaila Beckrow as school psychologist.
  • Kelley Turk to teach English at the high school.
  • Anthony Gutierrez to teach English at the middle school.
  • Haley Shope for fourth grade at Kenwood Elementary School.
  • James Gee for band at the middle school.
