Headaches from major road construction projects in BG are almost over

Plans for roundabout at intersection of East Wooster Street and Campbell Hill Road

Several major road construction projects in the City of Bowling Green are near the finish line:

East Wooster/Campbell Hill Roundabout

All asphalt work and pavement striping are complete. Over the next couple weeks, crews will be finishing the installation of the stone pavers in the median. Both lanes of traffic will be open in each direction and the roundabout fully functioning in time for the Tractor Pulls and BGSU Move In.

Crews will have to close a lane of traffic in each direction occasionally to finish the installation of pavers, light poles, and trees. The light poles and trees will be installed in the median island in September when they are delivered.

West Wooster/Haskins Water & Sewer Improvement Project

The contractor has turned the corner of West Wooster Street up Haskins Road – heading to the finish line at Parker Avenue. They have about 150 lineal feet of sewer left to install. Crews are currently still hammering 2-3 feet of bedrock, but the rock should dive down very soon and make installation quicker.

Curbs, driveways, and sidewalks are complete from Meeker Street to the east and demolition is starting west of Meeker Street to Haskins Road. On Wednesday, the paving contractor began paving trenches on the south side of West Wooster Street from Gorrell Avenue to Church Street. Once complete, traffic will be shifted to the paved surface and paving prep can begin on the water line trench on the north side of West Wooster. Two-way traffic will open on West Wooster Street as soon as it is safe to do so. This will happen in stages as sections are completed.

Paving – Haskins Road

The contractor has completed the surface course of asphalt on Haskins Road, between Newton Road and Parker Avenue. Remaining work at intersections and final striping will be completed within a timeframe that will not interfere with Wood County Fair traffic.
