Wood County Jail

Dakota J. Embry, an inmate at Wood County Jail, was found unresponsive in his cell Friday night.

Embry, 24, from Bryan, was one of the two men who escaped Thursday night from the NorthWest Community Corrections Center in Bowling Green. He was later apprehended in Fostoria, along with the other escaped inmate, Justin Firman.

Embry was booked into Wood County Jail on Friday at 5:10 p.m., for charges of escaping the community corrections center. At approximately 10:34 p.m., deputies at the jail found Embry unresponsive in his cell.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies started CPR and continued CPR until paramedics arrived. Embry was pronounced deceased by EMS.

There were no signs of foul play, according to the sheriff’s office. Embry was transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.

Embry had been convicted of possession of a fentanyl-related compound in Henry County Common Pleas Court. He was serving time at the corrections center for that charge when he and Firman reportedly climbed the fence in the recreation yard and escaped on Thursday.
