The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 6 p.m. today for Wood County. Heat index values (temperature plus humidity) will reach into the low 100s this afternoon, according to the Wood County Emergency Management Agency.
Relief from the intense heat will start to move into the area this evening, the overnight hours, and into Tuesday in the form of thunderstorms. Some isolated thunderstorms could be strong to even severe. Wood County is in a “marginal” risk category for severe weather today/tonight. Thunderstorms will also have the potential to drop heavy rainfall with the high level of humidity in place.
