Jack Edward Diehl, 89, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away February 5, 2023. He was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1933 to the late Paul and Esther (Helmuth) Diehl. He married Alta McCrae on July 17, 1955 and she survives in Bowling Green.
Jack obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University. He worked as a civil engineer for ODOT before going on to work as the Superintendent of the roads division for S.E. Johnson Company in Maumee, Ohio. He was a member of the Wood County Masonic Lodge #112 where he served as past Master and he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Jack (and Alta) was also a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, Portage, Ohio.
Jack loved traveling and was able to travel to every state and numerous countries. As a family, and then as a couple, they took trips to many national parks where they would camp, canoe, white water raft, and hike. He was a talented woodworker and made custom kitchen cabinets for his family and church. Jack also enjoyed spending time gardening and fishing.
Along with his wife, Alta, of 67 years Jack is survived by his daughters Wanda (Dana) Frank of Bowling Green, Ohio, Janeen (David) Roe of Weston, Ohio and Carla (Douglas) Rahrig of Luckey, Ohio, grandchildren Christopher (Leslie) Frank, Travis Frank, Megan (Joel) Metzger, Mallory Roe, Holly Roe, Kevin (Christine) Rahrig and Annalesa Rahrig, great- grandchildren Kale Frank, Leah Metzger, Elliot Metzger and Nora Metzger and sisters Joyce (Steve) Sanders and Delana Yates.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Lesa Marie Diehl.
His funeral service will be held on Friday February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Pastor Greg Miller will officiate. Interment will follow at Wood County Memory Gardens in Bowling Green. Visitation will be held Friday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Memorial contributions may be given to Simpson Garden Park or First United Methodist Church.
