James L. Queen, 84, of Custar passed away Friday May 20, 2016.
James was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky to the late Lindsay Allen and Elizabeth (Viars) Queen. He married the love of his life Janie Courtney on January 23, 1957 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1998. James is survived by his two sons: Kevin Queen of Weston and Michael Queen of Bowling Green; grandchildren: Danielle, Zachary, Amanda, Jacob, Rebecca, Noah and Emily; a brother Charles Queen of Weston and a special niece Gloria Richards. He was preceded in death by his son Brian Queen; daughter Carolyn Queen; grandson: Joshua Queen and a sister Evelyn Klein.
James was a crew chief for Johns Manville in Waterville and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. James enjoyed gardening, hunting and listening to bluegrass music. James enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering on Jimmy Johnson. James was a kind hearted and loving individual, he was one that would help anyone in a time of need. He loved having family get together and cookouts.
Visitation for James will be on Monday May 23, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 PM in the Wright-Hanneman- Habegger Funeral Home & Crematory, 24084 W. Second St., Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522, where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors’ will follow in the Weston Cemetery.
