James R. Merwin, Sr., age 54, of Rudolph, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Woodhaven Health Care in Bowling Green. He was born on January 13, 1970, in Bowling Green to the late William & Charmaine (Griffin) Merwin.
Surviving Jim is his son, James (Dyllan Atkin) Merwin, Jr. of Bowling Green; brother, William Merwin of North Baltimore; sisters, Debra (Don) Ruggles of Cygnet, Pamela (Mike) Allen of Portage, Jeanette (Matthew) Bowerman, Sr. of Rudolph; grandson, James Merwin III; nephews, Matthew Jr., Michael, Dylan, William Jr., Ian; nieces, Kelsey, Kristen, Allicia, Kaitlyn, Marissa, Bella, Annie, Shannon; and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Charmaine; and brother, Thomas Merwin.
Jim was a 1989 graduate of Bowling Green High School, worked as a Diesel Mechanic, and then Drove Dump Truck for Eric Palmer Trucking & Excavating. Over the years, he enjoyed working on cars, riding, being outside in general, and his greatest love in life was spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his famous “peace sign” he greeted everyone with. Jim’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Wood Haven Health Care and to nurse Alli from Bridge Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Jim.
Friends will be received from 11 AM – 2 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin on Wednesday at 2 PM. Burial will be at Rudolph Cemetery. Jim’s family would like to request everyone to wear casual attire. Memorial donations can be made to Jim’s family in c/o Barndt Funeral Home.
