Joyce Sylvia Kate Vollmar

Joyce Sylvia Kate Vollmar, 97, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully January 12, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born February 25, 1925 in Weston Turville, England to the late Stanley Joseph and Daisy Kate (Beeney) Axtell. She met the love of her life ; J.R. Vollmar; when he was stationed in England during WW 11.They were married after the war in England.She traveled on the war bride ship to the USA to join her husband in 1946.

Joyce was the true matriarch of the Vollmar family. She was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was everything to Joyce and she was very active, connected and involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was loved beyond measure by her entire family and will be sorely missed.

Joyce was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Tontogany American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time gardening, knitting and reading.

She is survived by her children Tessa (Phil) Sworden and Stan (Sharon) Vollmar, grandchildren Fred (Missy) Vollmar, Katrina (Tim) Bressler, William Vollmar, Anne (Sky) Smith and Tara McVicker, step-grandchildren Jen (Jim) Krummenacher, Nate (Julie) Sworden, Alia Greene, Oriana Sworden, Richard (Lisa) Kocher and Kim (Nathaniel) Cooke, great-grandchildren Mark (Angel) Bressler, Jordan (Carolina) Niceley, Meghan (Justin) Herman, Matthew Vollmar, Tyler Smith, Joey (Jocelyn) Smith, Dakota Smith, Chase Smith and Sophia Woggen, step-great-grandchildren Dan Sworden, Cole Sworden, Josh (Stacey) Rowley, Jake (Chelsea) Rowley, Tanyr Krummenacher, Gideon Sworden, Hunter (Mason) Garner, Brennan Molden, Shalese (Robert) Higgen Botham and Shanna (Jessie) Naccarato, great-great-grandchildren Claire Bressler, Quinn Bressler, Jocelyn Herman and Jordyn Herman and step-great-great-grandchildren Noveah Colon, Bruella Rowley, Charlotte Rowley, Kaidence Rowley, Braydon Rowley, Cooper Rowley, Kaden Rowley, Lilly Rowley and Harper Rowley. She is also survived by her sisters Meryl Childs, June Axtell and Jane Horder.

She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Daisy Axtell, husband Junior Roy Vollmar, granddaughter Theresa Niceley, step-granddaughter Lisa Kocher, great-grandson Zachary and sisters Ann, Tessa Kay and Jean.

Services for Joyce will be private for the family with interment at Otsego Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home in Tontogany, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Otsego Food Pantry.
