Judith Ann Hartley

Judy Ann Hartley, a beloved mother, grandmother and Gigi, peacefully departed from this world on August 21, 2023, at the age of 81. 


Judy was born on September 5, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Henry and Marceille (Baier) Musselman. Judy married the love of her life, Ronald Hartley, on June 20, 1965 in Champaign, IL and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2014.

Throughout her life, Judy dedicated herself to the pursuit of knowledge, education and service. She earned her Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degree from Bowling Green State University and went on to serve as an Academic Advisor in the College of Health and Human Services at Bowling Green State University, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students. Judy’s passion for helping others and her tireless dedication to their academic success earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and students alike. Judy was also very active in PEO sisterhood. Judy had a strong belief in God and was active in her churches, First Christian Church and then First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Judy was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her universe, and she poured her heart and soul into supporting each one. Judy’s love knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, Judy is survived by her daughter Karen (James) Adams; son Daryl (Kristi) Hartley, grandchildren: Mariah (Jacob) Wenzelman, Carter (Leah) Adams, Andrew, David and Matthew Hartley; great-grandchildren Charles, Nora, and Theodore Wenzelman, as well as her sister Kathy (Buzz) Kaufman and sisters-in-law Barbara and Sarah Musselman and Barbara (James) Klekner. She was preceded in death by her brothers Alan and Larry Musselman.

A Memorial Gathering will be held in Judy’s honors on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 11:30-2:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.

Arrangements are entrusted with the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.

Judy had a love for beautiful flowers however requested in lieu of flowers for her to instead buy an arrangement for someone who you love or needs cheer in her memory.
