Justen R. Caris, age 28, of Bradner, OH passed away on September 23, 2016 at his residence. He was born on March 10, 1988 in Toledo, OH to Robert and Amy (Hoseclaw) Caris. He was a maintenance person for the Ohio Turnpike. Justen joined the United States Marine Corps in 2009, and served with the 2D Combat Engineer Battalion in Camp LeJeune, NC. He deployed to Afghanistan on two occasions where he saw extensive combat. Justen was a combat engineer and selflessly sacrificed his safety while providing counter-improvised explosive device operations and was honorably discharged in 2013. Unfortunately on Friday he lost his battle with post traumatic stress disorder. He was a member of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338, Bradner, OH. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting and fishing.
Justen is survived by his daughter: Ellie Caris of Perrysburg, parents: Bob and Amy Caris of Gibsonburg, brother Noah Caris of Gibsonburg, sister: Lauren Caris of Cleveland, paternal grandmother: Peggy Caris of Pemberville and fiancée: Brittany Schumaker of Gibsonburg. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Orvil and Mary Hoseclaw.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday September 28, 2016 from 4-8 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH where funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11 AM. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Marine Corp. Consideration for memorial contributions are to: Ellie Caris College Fund (checks may be made out to Amy or Bob Caris) or Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338, Bradner, OH.
