Kathleen P. Ferrell, 71, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away December 31, 2019. She was born February 17, 1948 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Thomas and Eileen (Coogan) Price. She married Walter H. Ferrell on January 30, 1971 and he preceded her in death July 3, 2014.
Kathy worked as a nurse throughout her life beginning at physician offices, then the Wood County Health Department, and most recently at the Children’s Resource Center in Bowling Green prior to retiring. She volunteered on countless boards, including the Job and Family Services Planning Committee. She devoted her nursing career to the care of women and children and her practical nature combined with her sense of humor made her an amazing nurse. In fact, many people who knew her considered her their own personal “ask-a-nurse” whenever they had a concern. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and loved to cook for her friends and family. She enjoyed family vacations to the Jersey Shore and being with her lifelong friends from “back home.” Her greatest joy in life came from being with her family, especially the time she spent spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Todd (Carrie) Ferrell of Bowling Green, Ohio, Kacee (Rob) Ferrell Snyder of Bowling Green, Ohio and Kevin (Brenna) Ferrell of Bowling Green, Ohio, and grandchildren Lucy, Tucker, Gavin, Avery and Fynnigan. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (Lynn) Price of Lebanon, New Jersey and sister Eileen (Brad) Teuber of Avenel, New Jersey.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St.
Kathy dedicated her nursing career to helping women and children with their health and wellness. She was an active member of the community and raised three children in Bowling Green who attended the public schools here. It is the family’s wish that memorial contributions be given in her memory to the Bowling Green City Schools Lunch Fund, which will help pay off any BG City School student’s lunch debt. Checks can be made payable to the BG Board of Education.
