Lavender draws a crowd at Schooner Farms

Don Schooner and Becky White-Schooner threw a party last year in honor of one of the main crops at Schooner Farms. That first Lavender Fest at the farm drew 900. A good start.

On Saturday the second festival was held, and I topped last year’s attendance within an hour of the doors opening. Don Schooner estimates as many as 4,000 strolled the grounds of the farm, exploring the lavender labyrinth and the scaled dow serpent’s mound.

The festival featured about 30 vendors, demonstrations of distilling lavender oil, and a variety of food trucks.
