Man with warrant for incest with minor reportedly shoots himself when approached by BGPD

This morning (Saturday, Sept. 23) an Indiana man wanted for incest with a minor reportedly shot himself when approached by a Bowling Green police officer.

At approximately 11:13 a.m., BGPD officers were notified of a license plate reader alert on East Wooster Street for a man with a felony warrant. Officers located the vehicle in the Speedway gas station parking lot at 1650 E. Wooster St.

An officer approached the vehicle to make contact with the driver, who was inside the vehicle. According to the police, the driver produced a handgun and shot himself.

Bowling Green Fire Division transported the subject to the Wood County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The name of the 37-year-old man is being held until family can be notified, BGPD Lt. Adam Skaff said.
