Mark Edsel Pendleton

Mark Edsel Pendleton, known affectionately as “Markybird,” passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 71 in Savannah, Georgia. Born on September 30, 1952, Mark lived a life marked by his passion for adventure and the outdoors.

Mark was a devoted husband to Marie Pendleton and a loving father to Anna White (Justin) and Emily Campbell (Andrew). He also cherished his role as a grandfather to Baylie, Ella, Peyton, and Emerson White. His siblings, Tom Pendleton, Susan Tucceri, Judy Bressler, Terry Otley, Lynn Pendleton, and Doug Pendleton, survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edsel and Anne Pendleton, and his sister, Pat Gray.

An active individual, Mark had a variety of interests that kept him busy with friends and family. He was an avid tennis player, enjoying spirited matches with Baylie. Mark also enjoyed driving to Olde Gilead’s Country Store in Grand Rapids with his granddaughter Ella in his Porsche. Always enjoying a good project and puzzle, he loved completing the latest Kiwi crates with granddaughter Peyton. His skills in woodworking and carpentry allowed him to create beautiful pieces and contribute to various projects, passing along his many talents to his grandson, Emerson, who was known to follow Mark around like a shadow. Emerson Mark is honored to carry on his name. Dinners at his daughter Anna’s house were always a favorite. Mark developed an interest in birdwatching after moving to their dream retirement community, providing him with moments of peace and connection to nature. Mark also enjoyed hiking, competing in Apple Watch challenges with his daughter Emily, engaging in gaming sessions with Charley, John, Justin, and Emerson, and watching all of his grandkids’ various activities.

A subsequent gathering will take place on August 9, 2024 at Simpson Garden Park in Bowling Green, Ohio. Two separate services will be held due to the 170 person occupancy limit. Mark’s life was a testament to his vibrant spirit and his enduring dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
