Mary Elizabeth Marten (Dunipace), of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017 after a short but courageous struggle with Cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Marten, her mother, Elizabeth Dunipace, her father, Jim Dunipace, and her sister Karen Goins. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her five daughters: Erin Marten, Bowling Green, Erica Marten, Bowling Green, Keri (Brad) Hain, Bowling Green, Katie (Thomas) Downie, Bowling Green, and Kelly (David) Mileski, of Oak Park, Michigan. She will be forever missed by her seven grandchildren: Nate, Kaleb, Marley, Arrow, June, Sage, and Calvin. She is also cherished by her brothers and in-laws, and by her many friends and co-workers in the local Wood and Lucas County real estate communities. Mary was born and raised in Bowling Green. She received a business degree from Owens Community College in 1996 and graduated with highest honors. Among her proudest life’s achievements was raising her five daughters. She was also well established in the area as a successful real estate agent and very bright business woman. Co-workers at A.A. Green Realty describe her as the “tech guru” of the office and a constant go-to for help, advice, and encouragement. Mary served as Director and Secretary of the Wood County Board of Realtors for 17 years. In 2014, Mary received the Board of Realtors Legacy Award in recognition for her career-long contribution to area real estate and acknowledging the impact that she has had over the years. Mary will always and forever be remembered for living a life defined by service for others. Not a single person who knew Mary could say that their life was not touched by her in some positive way. Mary was one who would always do first for others and never ask for anything in return. She often shied away from recognition and did not care for the spotlight; she found satisfaction instead in the happiness of others. Mary was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a familiar face at the Wood County Senior Center as well as the Historical Society. The girls would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Kay Marten, Lou Dunipace, Deb Marten, and Tim Westhoven. We would also like to acknowledge the staff at The Heritage at Bridge Home Health and Hospice, especially Gayle Kitchen and the staff at Bridge Hospice, for their exceptional care and concern for the entire family. Words cannot adequately express how grateful we are for your compassion and expertise. Visitation will be held at Dunn Funeral Home on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 1-4 pm and a funeral service will be held at St Aloysius Church on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 followed by a Luncheon opened to the public at Stone Ridge Golf Course at 12:30 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice in remembrance of Mary.
