Mary L. Murphy, 80, of Portage, Ohio, passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022. She was born September 9, 1941 in Birmingham, Ohio to the late Ralph and Marian (Stage) Walton. She married Ira Murphy in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1988.
Mary worked at Kroger in Bowling Green in the deli and as a cake decorator. She was a recycling fanatic and was passionate about finding a use for everything and not letting anything go to waste. She enjoyed metal detecting, collecting stamps and match books and listening to baseball games. She loved dogs and her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her children Mark (Marcia) Wolford of Portage, Ohio, Tim Murphy of Portage, Ohio, Beccie Johnson of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Anne (Steve) Hilbert of Jasper, Georgia and Tina (Jimmy) Elmore of Lawndale, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister Wanda Thomas of Birmingham, Ohio, 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Bob Walton and Donald “Bosco” Walton and sisters Donna Hoerig and Carol Hogue.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday March 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. Visitation will be held Monday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to Ohio Living Hospice.
