Mary Rose Grindstaff, age 67, of Wayne, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday (March 21, 2023) at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 3, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Chester B. & Nella Mae (McDonnell) Percy. She married James R. Grindstaff on July 10, 1976, in Columbus, Ohio.
Surviving Mary is her loving husband of 46 years, Jim; daughters, Kathryn (Jeffrey) Gregorsok of Bowling Green, Ohio, Kristin (Corey) Trobaugh of Waterville, Ohio; brother, James E. Percy of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Jemma, Neil, Vera, Isla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester & Nella; sister, Becky Lou Pedersen.
Mary was a 1973 Graduate of Worthington High School. She then went to Bowling Green State University and received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1977. She taught elementary music at Elmwood Local Schools until her retirement in 2010. Mary enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, reading, animals, and rescuing stray injured animals, but her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-5 PM Sunday (March 26, 2023) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, family would prefer memorial donations be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice or the Wood County Humane Society.
