As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, people will no longer be required to wear masks in all Wood County owned buildings.
New signs will be posted at the entrance to county buildings, stating that voluntary mask use is encouraged.
In a notice sent out to county offices, the Wood County Commissioners said they believe it is important to make people feel comfortable if they still wish to wear masks to prevent the spread of COVID. Additionally, the email said, physical distance between people is vital.
“Give people space,” the email from the commissioners’ office stated. “When planning for meetings, continue to account for the number of people and size of the meeting space. If physical distancing cannot be maintained, a different meeting space or method should be used.”
Signage at the entrance to county buildings will suggest that people “please ask for assistance if you wish to use a better mask.” At the Courthouse Complex, the security staff will maintain a supply of blue/accordion-fold masks. Additionally, they will have a small supply of N95/KN95 masks if people want one. Wood County EMA will provide a small supply of N95/KN95 masks to other offices and departments if requested.
