Maxine Miller

Charclie Maxine (Atkins) Miller age 89 of Bowling Green went to be with the Lord on October, 22, 2016. She leaves a loving husband of 43 years Mack J Miller; 8 children Tim (Anne) Young, Dora (Alan) Bensch, Karen (Jim) Ferguson, Suzan (Jeff) Poitinger, Cathy (Jim) Stoner, Bryan (Cathy) Young, Brian (Rebecca) Miller, and Rebecca (Lance) Corbin; 25 grandchildren, Kevin, Stephanie, Lauren, Kyle, Brett, Ryan, Moriah, Colin, Timmy, Danny, Logan, Megan, Lincoln, Bethany, Rachel, Suzan, Cody, Ian, Catherine, Marc, Melissa, Frank, and David; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister Rose (Doug) Cope. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Derrick and Kimberly. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She always thought of others first, a trooper in all she did without complaint. She was very active with her family, attending many sports events of grandchildren, camping, reunions at the beach, holiday gatherings, and involved family in many of her volunteer activities. She and Mack held a summer camp, known as M & M Camp, for their grandchildren for many years reinforcing bible verses, nature, and manners. She enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening and bird watching. She will be missed. Maxine was referred to as the Mother Theresa of Bowling Green involving herself in many volunteer activities. She founded Martha’s Kitchen where she spent countless hours serving hot meals to those in need along with establishing a food pantry. She was instrumental in bringing Habitat for Humanity to Wood County where she had direct involvement in 22 plus new home builds. She was involved in numerous organizations including Bowling Green Woman’s Club, Gleaners, King’s Daughters, and Red Cross. She also went on a mission’s trip to Africa serving in different capacities. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green and taught Sunday school there for many years. She will be missed. Maxine always had long lasting and meaningful friendships where ever she went. The family appreciates the dedication they showed in her declining health. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to Habitat for Humanity or as Maxine would want it “Pay it forward.” Mother we love you and can see you walking with the Lord now in comfort. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29th at the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, Ohio. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
