Mildred “Millie” Anna Speck

Mildred “Millie” Anna Speck, 88, of Dowling Road, Bowling Green, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 28, 2017. She was born to Stephan and Anna Bartosek, both Czechoslovak immigrants, on December 2, 1928. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Millie was a beautiful example of a Proverbs 31 woman who “did us good all the days of her life.” She was always full of energy, continuously working to make things better for those around her.

In the early years, she did everything from driving the tractor on the farm to helping her sons with school work and serving up amazing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. After raising her sons, Millie worked for many years at the Perrysburg Foodtown. Truly having a servant’s heart, she would go out of her way to help anyone. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, visiting with her many friends, listening to and singing along with polka music, growing roses, and even rescuing orphan bunnies and kittens.

In February 2017, Millie was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Through her relentless will and God’s grace, she stayed with her family another eight months. Her strength, goodness, love and thankfulness were inspirational to her family and closest friends.

She is survived by her husband Frederick J. Speck, her sons Frederick A. and Steven J. Speck and their wives Pam and Patti, five grandchildren; Amy, Frederick C., Sarah, Anna and Steven, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Stephan and Anna, and her brother Emil.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 3-5 & 6-8p.m. at the Marsh Funeral Home, 110 Main Street, Luckey, OH.
