Molly Ogden, 36, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Saturday September 2, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital due to complications with her fourth heart attack.
Molly was born February 15, 1981 to Marcia Sweeney and the late Carl Ogden.
Sadly, she was plagued with bad health for many years. Molly was diagnosed in the advanced-stage of Takayasu Arteritis in 2011. It is a rare disease which targets the main arteries. There were multiple side-effects. She suffered greatly but bravely persevered through courage, determination and a sense of humor. Molly’s Christian faith sustained her as well.
She graduated from BGHS where she performed as a Madrigal singer. Molly earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from BGSU majoring in History. Health issues prevented her from completing her Masters; also in History.
Molly loved History; was a voracious reader; and had an extensive library. No doubt few could surpass her knowledge of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and WWI and WWII- her favorites. George Washington was her hero. She fascinated people as she spoke and could easily integrate facts including politics.
Molly loved our Country and had a solid understanding of the Founding Fathers and historical documents. She was quite opinionated but based on knowledge. She considered Senator Jim DeMint as the closest honorable figure equal to the Founding Fathers and was honored to meet him on several occasions.
Molly was a member of The Heritage Foundation, local Republican party, attended CPACs and enjoyed assisting Josh Mandel in his bid for Senator in 2012 and was asked again for the 2018 election. Molly truly loved and understood politics and accurately predicted outcomes before they happened. She’d say, “If one knows History, one can relate to current events.”
Music and movies- especially Old Hollywood- were special passions, and she acquired a massive collection. Molly enjoyed opera, musical theatre, museums, art, traveling, and was a loyal fan of OSU and Cleveland Browns football. She also had a keen eye for interior design. Thankfully, she was able to fulfill her dream to visit Israel.
Molly had a generous nature, out-going personality, was kind, loyal, fun, and witty. A black gorgeous cat named Santino was her only “child” and provided happiness, comfort, and unconditional love. She appreciated white orchids, pink roses, shoes, purses, and fashion. Sensitive to humanity, Molly chose to be an organ donor.
Survivors include her mom Marcia Sweeney, Aunt Pat Sweeney, and Granny Phyllis Sweeney all of Bowling Green, plus many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The late Austin Sweeney was her Papa. Her best friend Eli Resor was very important in her life, and his family embraced her as one of their own.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 8, 2017 at First Christian Church, 875 Haskins Road in Bowling Green from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Wood County Humane Society.
