More downtown street closures planned as construction continues

Downtown waterline in Bowling Green in 2019.

The contractor working in the downtown will transition to installing water service lines, installing a gravity sanitary sewer line, and replacing manholes in the near future. In order to keep the project on schedule and to ensure the paving contractor is not delayed, certain road closures are required.

On May 13, East Wooster will be closed to traffic from Main Street to Prospect. This closure is required to replace three manholes within the block. It is anticipated the road will reopen by 5 p.m. on May 15. During the closure, traffic and parking will be prohibited.

Beginning May 20, South Main Street will be closed from Wooster to Clough
Street. This closure is required in order to install a gravity sewer as well as begin installing water service lines. It is anticipated the road will reopen by 5 p.m. on May 24. During the closure, traffic and parking will be prohibited.

During both closures, local traffic will be detoured around the area using side streets. Truck traffic will be detoured around the outer belt of the city using Poe Road, Thurstin/Manville, and Napoleon Road.

The utility portion of this project is anticipated to last through the spring of 2019. Once complete, a contractor will repave the downtown. Questions about this may be directed to the Engineering Division at 419-354-6227.
