NAMI Wood County announces April classes, support groups and events

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County announces April free events, educational classes, support groups and other programs that address mental health for the Wood County community.

The programs are all to be held in the NAMI Wood County office at 1250 Ridgewood Drive, Bowling Green.

The next NAMI Family-to-Family educational course for family members, caregivers and friends of individuals living with a mental illness begins April 24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday through May 17. Register at namiwoodcounty.org/famil-family-0.

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is an educational course for individuals living with a mental illness. The next class begins April 25 from 5:30-7:30 and will be held every Tursday and Thursday through May 18. Visit to register at namiwoodcounty.org/peer-peer-0/

NAMI Basics will begin April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday through May 6. The educational program is for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses. The program covers the fundamentals of caring for yourself, your family and your child. Visit namiwoodcounty.org/nami-basics-0 to register.

On Tuesday, April 18 at 4 p.m. NAMI Wood County will host Nite Out with NAMI. Participants can learn a few simple and healthy recipes while cooking mindfully. Anyone in the community is invited to attend. To register, visit namiwoodcounty.org/nite-out-nami-1.

A Family and Caregiver Support Group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 2-3:30 p.m. The group is a peer-led support group for parents, family members and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness.

Volunteer opportunities are available at NAMI Wood County, such as becoming a support group or class facilitator, office volunteer and more.
