Not in Our Town (NIOT) BG is hosting their five-year anniversary celebration on April 17 at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, in the basement area, 126 S. Church St., Bowling
Green. Doors open at 5 p.m. with welcoming remarks by the BGSU President Rodney Rogers, and BG City Council President Mike Aspacher, commencing at 5:30 p.m.

The keynote address will be given by Vicky Kulicke, who inspired the city of Bowling Green and Bowling Green State University to start a Not in Our Town chapter in April 2013. That kick-off was on April 17, after a series of racially-charged incidents were directed at African-American community members and BGSU students. Kulicke will give her remarks starting at 5:45 p.m.

A cake to celebrate the event, raffle prizes, and a kids’ corner are planned for the evening. In addition, four student groups from Dr. Khani Begum’s Palestinians in Film class will share their end-year projects beginning at 6:15 p.m. and subsequently on the half hour. People are invited to come and go as they please during the evening.

The event is free and open to the public.

Holly Cipriani, the Programming chair stated, “NIOT BG has a strong presence in the community and on campus and we are excited to celebrate five years to the day from the initial launch of this nationwide initiative. We hope many people are equally as excited to note this accomplishment and will join us.”
