North Baltimore Historical Society exhibit honors local photographer

NORTH BALTIMORE —The North Baltimore Ohio Area Historical Society is opening an art exhibit of photographs by local amateur photographer James Cavett (1908-1949). 

Cavett, who was a local pharmacist, was an avid amateur photographer and his photograph collection was given to the Historical Society.  Cavett and his wife, Janice, lived in a house near the present-day reading garden at the library.  A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Cavett died at age 41 and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery.

The art exhibit, located in the North Baltimore Historical Society at 229 N. Main St., North Baltimore, is open to the public beginning in April and will run through August. The exhibition is free and will be open for the public to view the photographs on Tuesdays from 9 to noon or by appointment by calling the North Baltimore Public Library at 419-257-3621.
