One driver killed in two-car crash early this morning

One driver was killed this morning in a two-vehicle crash being investigated by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:20 a.m. in the 6000 block of Fremont Pike, east of Perrysburg.

According to the sheriff’s office, a Toyota Corolla was heading eastbound on Fremont Pike and went left of center, striking a Honda Civic heading westbound.

The driver of the Toyota, Joseph Dufour from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda, Jill A. Loftus from Gibsonburg, was taken by St. Vincent Life Flight to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Troy Township Fire and EMS, Lake Township Fire and EMS, Perrysburg Township EMS, OR’s Sunoco, Shipley’s Automotive, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
