Bowling Green Police responded to Wood County Hospital Thursday at 6:33 a.m., for a man who had been hit by a car and dropped off at the hospital by an unknown person.
The victim was flown to Toledo Hospital by an air ambulance. Before being transported, the patient told BG Police that he was crossing an unknown street in Perrysburg when a dark colored vehicle struck him. He stated the car never stopped.
However, Perrysburg Police Department officials said they were not aware of a hit-and-run in Perrysburg. But there was a report of a hit-and-run in Henry County early this morning, with the victim being dropped off at Wood County Hospital. Henry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
The patient told police that he didn’t know what road he was on when hit, and he couldn’t remember any buildings or businesses in the area where he was struck. He did recall there were medium height trees on one side of the road.
The man said he is not familiar with the area because he is homeless, and just walked to Perrysburg from Cleveland. He reportedly had a South Dakota driver’s license in his wallet.
The patient told officers that he didn`t know the person who dropped him off at the hospital. He stated it was just somebody who saw him lying on the side of the road.
Hospital staff said the man dropping off the injured patient left before they could identify him. The unknown man was driving a silver Ford truck, and hospital staff said there was a “significant” amount of blood inside the truck. The hospital security manager was working to get video footage of the truck pulling up to the ER.
