Several events are being planned in Pemberville for the fall and Christmas season.

The Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society is sponsoring its annual Harvest Gathering Artist Fair – Gift Boutique/Craft Show on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Again, this year the show will feature three venues; Pemberville Fire Hall, Pemberville’s Historic Opera House and Bethlehem’s Fellowship Hall.

Unique shops, artisans and authors are invited to participate. This event is being marketed as a unique gift boutique with a nice mix of handcrafted products/design styles. Artisans/crafters interested in participating should contact Chairman Todd Sheets at 419-287-3274.

Known for its small town charm, Pemberville is home to one of Ohio’s oldest general stores – Beeker’s General Store, Pemberville’s Historic Opera House (completely restored), Pemberville Railroad Depot, Pemberville’s oldest frame house – The Pember-Furry House, One Room School and Blacksmith Shop.

Pemberville’s Harvest Gathering event is an annual tradition, held the fourth Saturday in October rain or shine.

The Pemberville – Freedom Area Historical Society is excited for this year’s Festival of Trees – Nov. 24 and 25. Our theme is “Christmas Around the World” and we would like to ask for talented tree decorators to step forward to decorate a tree this year. Anything goes! Color of tree, lights, décor, etc – you create/decorate a tree (At least 6 feet tall, of course we welcome taller trees) for all to enjoy.

Patrons get to vote for their “favorite trees.” The winning tree/decorator receives $100. Individual decorators and teams are welcome. The historic Opera House will once again be the setting for this unique display/fundraiser.

Decorators will have access to the Opera House starting Friday, Nov. 9.

Additional opportunities will be available for tablescapes. Following the “Christmas Around the World” theme, decorators will create table settings for four and centerpiece décor. Our committee will supply a 48 inch, round table and linen to the floor – you choose the color. Again, anything goes! We are seeking four decorators and/or teams.

Please consider putting your talents to work and call Laurie Housholder 419-686-8125, Cindy Lohrbach 419-287-3876 or Todd Sheets at 419-287-3274 to confirm your participation and theme.

A little bit about this event: Admission is $5 per person (children are free with paid adult admission) with proceeds benefiting the Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society. Tickets for this annual fundraiser are available at the door and include complimentary refreshments, the chance to “vote” for your favorite tree and be entered in the Grand Prize drawing.

For more information, call 419-287-3274.

The Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society is pleased to announce that the Historic Opera House is available for rent this holiday season. The society is encouraging businesses, organizations and clubs to reserve the Opera House fully decorated for the holidays.

The Opera House, one of Pemberville’s local gems, was erected in 1892. The stately hall is located on the second floor of the Pemberville Town Hall. The Opera House has been home to many concerts, silent movies, recitals and events.

Availability for rental is Nov. 26 – Dec. 11 (day or evening.) More details can be found at pembervilleoperahouse.org or by calling 419-287-3274.
