The Ohio Local History Alliance (OLHA) has awarded the Wood County Historical Center & Museum with a History Outreach Award for Exhibits and Displays with an operating budget over $25,000 for the current exhibit “For Comfort & Convenience: Public Charity in Ohio By Way of the Poor Farm.”
Each year the OLHA presents History Outreach Awards that recognize local history projects with strong educational content, contribute to the promotion and understanding of state and local history, and impact the community.
“For Comfort & Convenience: Public Charity in Ohio By Way of the Poor Farm” features documentary photography coupled with interpretive information about all 88 county managed poor farm sites across the state of Ohio.
The exhibit was made possible by the Ohio Arts Council and the Ohio Humanities Council, with an in-kind donation of photography services by Jeffrey Hall.
